Macadamia Nut Grafting Project

The development and research behind my grafting educational material for grafting macadamia nut was developed in conjunction with researcher Andrea Barrueto, Australian macadamia expert Kim Wilson, and Helvetas Nepal. The work focuses on providing farmers and Junior Agricultural Technician (JAT) tools for such best practices as macadamia nursery management and grafting techniques for improved quality and production. The objective of the work focuses on providing farmers with a series of educational materials from 3D printed and scanned macadamia grafting objects, illustrated step-by-step training guides, and Virtual Reality panoramic 360 photos of actual macadamia nursery and orchards. This allows farmers to see layout design for macadamia nut production in other regions. Research suggests that by giving individuals content appropriate materials for exploring ideas and concepts, this leads to a higher degree of understanding and appropriations for new ideas from the learner.
